Introducing Bowen Therapist Therese Pettiford – Brudell

Hi my name is Therese, for 20 years I have been working as a Bowen Therapist. During this time I have enjoyed helping my clients to regain and maintain their best health. I am also a Hatha Yoga Teacher and sell Bush Flower essences. I have worked in Carmen’s clinic over the past 4 years treating her clients when she was away. I am committed to careing for her clients now that she is no longer practicing Bowen. Currently I am available for treatments on Fridays.
What happens in a treatment? After an initial assessment, initially you, lay face down on a massage table and later will turn over and lay on your back. You can wear light clothing or your underwear and are covered with a sheet or blankets to keep you comfortable. Various muscles are manipulated in a treatment to send messages to your nervous system which then send messages back the muscles, ligaments and tendons to realign to their natural position. After the muscles are manipulated the Bowen therapist will leave the room to give the body time to relax, realign and readjust. Throughout the treatment the therapist will go through a sequence of moves, leave the room and come back to continue with further moves until the body has realigned. To ensure the best effectiveness of the treatment and prevent further stress on the body the manipulations are divided into 3 weekly treatments. After this maintenance treatments can be done monthly or as needed. As a Yoga Teacher I can also give guidance on yoga and Bowen exercises to further enhance the treatments.
Bowen can be used to treat a range of physical and mental health conditions including: neck pain, back pain, sciatica, carpel tunnel, frozen shoulder, sporting injuries, TMJ, stress, knee, ankle and hamstring injuries as well as asthma, bronchitis, ADHD, depression and anxiety.
Robert’s Story
When Robert came to me he was in considerable pain. He was unable to move his neck and shoulder normally he also had pain in his lower back and hip. After his 3rd treatment over three consecutive weeks he could move his neck and shoulder normally and was completely pain free. He said he felt “Like a new man”.
